The Ela Coalition Against Youth Substance Abuse (“the Coalition”) was formed in August 2010 in response to an increased concern about underage alcohol and drug use in the community. The Coalition, in partnership with the Lake County Health Department and Ela Township, gathered and reviewed national, state, and local data to understand cultural and societal norms, usage trends, and perceptions driving this youth behavior.
Safely dispose of your prescription drugs!
Unused prescription drugs that remain in home medicine cabinets are highly susceptible to misuse. Make sure to dispose of your unused and expired medicine in an environmentally friendly manner. Lake County offers many locations where you can drop off your medicine in a free and safe way. Remember not to place medicine in the trash/recycling, and never flush them down the toilet as it pollutes the environment and waterways.
